Mosquitoes

Types of Mosquitoes on Long Island

Mosquitoes are very common on Long Island due to the damp environment. Female mosquitoes are the ones that bite and could cause serious blood-borne illnesses such as Malaria, Yellow Fever, Zika Virus, West Nile Virus, EEE (Eastern Equine Encephalitis) and others. Mosquitoes tend to stay out of direct sunlight close to the ground mostly coming out at dusk and after dark. However, the Tiger Mosquito which is found in Suffolk County is also known to be active and bite during the daytime.

Mosquito Control Program

Mosquitoes can not only pose a serious health risk, they make it difficult to be comfortable in your own yard. Mosquitoes are most active from May through September during the time that we love to be outdoors most.

For the best control and prevention of mosquitoes during the season, we recommend spray applications twice a month. We will spray your entire yard making sure to cover any areas where they may be hiding in the shade. The product we use is also effective for tick control. Once you sign up for our Mosquito Control Program, we will arrange a schedule that works best for you with reminders the week of your upcoming application.

Planning a special event or having some family over for a BBQ? Long Island Tick Sprays also has you covered. Give us a call a week prior to your event and we will make sure to get to your property before the event ensuring that you and your guests are comfortable.
